About Rakhshanda Layeequr-Rahman, MD

Dr. Rakhshanda Rahman is the Chief of Breast Surgery at Creighton University School of Medicine and CHI Health.

Dr. Rahman previously served at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she was the founding Executive Director of the multi-campus Breast Center of Excellence, established in 2010. She spearheaded the development of the first breast center of excellence in West Texas to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The center’s prospective data management and community outreach programs received national commendations. Dr. Rahman also served as Project Director for the Access to Breast and Cervical Care for West Texas (ABC2WT) initiative, which provides education and screening services for breast and cervical cancer across 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle.

Dr. Rahman is a graduate of Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, where she completed her internship and residency. She later completed fellowships in general and breast surgery at Aga Khan University in 2001, followed by a breast subspecialty fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program distinction, Professional Breast Health Champion, Texans Caring for Texans Award, and the Amarillo Women’s Network Career Achievement Award.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Rahman is deeply committed to research, education, and community service. She has made significant contributions to the field through her publications and active involvement in professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons (Fellow), American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Southwestern Surgical Congress, National Consortium of Breast Centers, and the North Texas Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
