About Jena Munson, CTRS/CBIS

Jena Munson is an exceptionally dedicated and experienced professional in the field of therapeutic recreation, boasting an impressive 34 years of service at the CHI Immanuel Rehabilitation Institute. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of South Dakota and is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.

Jena's extensive contributions span both the Inpatient/Outpatient and Community based practice areas, showcasing her commitment to holistic care. She provides care for individuals with various conditions, including Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, and Amputation. Jena also coordinates the Amputee Support Group for the Rehabilitation Institute, offering crucial support and resources to individuals navigating life after amputation.

Beyond the hospital, Jena is a passionate advocate for adaptive sports and recreation. She developed and coordinates a Junior W/C Sports and Recreation Camp for youth with physical impairments, providing an empowering outlet for young individuals. Additionally, she oversees an extensive Adaptive Sports & Recreation Program that serves the Omaha Metro and surrounding communities, promoting an active and inclusive lifestyle for people with disabilities. Jena also actively engages with the community by presenting a prevention program titled "A Matter of Seconds" in local high school classrooms.

Her philosophy is deeply rooted in helping individuals realize that life can indeed move forward after an injury or illness. Jena finds immense satisfaction in witnessing her patients achieve goals they once deemed impossible and celebrating every one of their accomplishments, regardless of size.

Outside of her impactful career, Jena cherishes time with her family, enjoys the outdoors, and is actively involved in athletics and volunteering. She has dedicated many hours to supporting her children's athletic pursuits, often found at baseball and softball fields regionally with her husband.
